Bugs and Places By Stephen “Shoosty” Shooster is the newest exhibition at Mills Art Gallery.

Shoosty’s work is recognizable by his trademark use of color and shape. Influenced by travel, music, nature and family, Shoosty’s work takes the viewer on a wild ride invoking the spirits of Picasso, Braque, Gauguin, Chagall, Matisse, Ad Reinhardt and even Illustrated Manuscripts to create his paintings which range from the sublime to groovy. Shoosty’s sculpture and paintings appear in public and private collections around the world. Shoosty’s artistic ability with his zeal for technology and lifelong learning keep him constantly curious and creative. Shoosty is as comfortable with oil paints as he is with technology. His primary concern is using the arts to provide creative leadership to those that surround him and to constantly challenge himself to think and create in new ways.

The exhibition will feature the artist’s fascination of bugs and landscapes. As an avid traveler, Shoosty’s curiosity about nature coupled with his ability to work from life then studio and digitally result it a variety stylistic interpretations.

The exhibition will include images that can be ordered on clothing from dresses to scarfs to hats as well as small works that can be customized by size as well as one-of-a-kind original works.

About the artist: Stephen Shooster, known as Shoosty was born in 1958 in Chester, Pennsylvania. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts with a minor in Architecture, in 1986 at The University of Florida. Shooster has enjoyed a successful corporate career by day and a prolific painting career by night. Stephen Shooster aka “Shoosty” is a fine and graphic artist, VFX artist, software developer, fashion designer, business developer, an expert in customer service, and author. From Local Beginnings to Global Response Shooster’s corporate career took him from working with his family in an answering service business, using old-fashioned wooden switchboards to navigating the company successfully through the convergence of computers and telephony, patenting software along the way that is the de facto method used by all call centers today. Shooster was the creative force behind our technology innovation at Global Response. Global Response now under new ownership serves some of the finest brands in the world, including Toyota, Zara, Lane Bryant Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Modern Museum of Art, Ally Bank, CBS, Crate and Barrel, Hess, and The Home Depot.

Stephen Shooster is founder of Shoosty Gallery, Shoosty and Company artistic services, Shooster Publishing and 777 Properties. Shooster is also a co-chief executive for Global Response, Answering Service Care, and Shipwizard. Patent holder of Web call center/PSTN to TCPIP internet network. He is the author of The Horse Adjutant, a story of survival during the Holocaust. He currently served as a member of the University of Florida College of the Arts Council and sponsors a scholarship. His work has been exhibited at the Boca Raton Museum of Art, Old School House, Weisman Center, UF College of the Arts and Judaica Library as well as at the Shoosty Gallery. He is featured in Marquis’ Who’s Who in American Art.

Shoosty has 50 years of experience in the arts. He enjoys life now as a full-time artist and has integrated his art making practice into his travels. He and his family share creativity and a great love of the visual arts and music. Shooster reside in south Florida.
